Show Name: Chad Cooper/ Jon Cheny Date of Preparation: 12/04/97 Historical Sites and Potential Source actsheet Site: Boston Consolidated Mill (Arthur Concentrator) #71.00 Located immediately west of the Magna Concentrator, Boston Consolidated began construction of a 3000 ton per day mill in 1906 with dimensions of 370' x 555'. The mill was completed in 1909 at a cost of approximately $ 1.5 million, and was constructed of steel and concrete. In 1910, Utah Copper absorbed Boston Consolidated and renovated the mill to increase the capacity from 3000 tpd to 8000 tpd. From this point forward, the mill was known as the Arthur Mill. The Arthur Mill was closed in 1930 because of slumping world copper prices. From 1935 to 1938 the Arthur and Magna Mills were reconditioned to improve their recovery. The Arthur Mill was reopened in 1936. By 1963, the Magna and Arthur Mills had a combined capacity of 90,000 tpd.
