There was but little accomplished in the art o coloured watermarking from the time of Congrev until about 1885 when Mr. Lee of Wookey Hole Somerset, England, undertook to revive and improve theart. Clayton Beadle in his fine article o watermarking in the "Journal of the Society o Arts"(London, May18,1906), gives Lee the credi of being the pioneer in England in the making o watermarks in colour, but this is obviously a mistake.
