The letteringor design in the secon sheet couched was made by the use of a stenci placed over the mould, cut in the form of the required design. As many colours as desired wer inserted between the two layers of moist pulp bu each colour bad to be formed separately In 1818 Sir William Congreve tried to have hi triple paper adopted by the Bank of England fo their bank-notes. In England at this time ther was considerable trouble experienced in preventin forgery and many of the leading typographersan engraversof the period offered suggestions as to th relief of the situation. It was about this time tha The Society of Arts attempted to supply remedie to prevent the counterfeiting of bank-notes and report was published by them on this subject i 1819.
