Show PREFAC N thisbook, which deals with old papermakin and watermarking, no attempt has been mad to set forth descriptions of stone, wood, leaves bark, papyrus, or parchment-the writing materials of the ancients. Nor is it a desire to enter in to the controversy as to the priority of cotton o linen as a papermalking material.
