Show 5 OLD~PAPERMAKIN moulds covered with loosely woven cloth, we mus accept the wove sheetas the original type of paper The laid bamboo mould came into use a few centuries later, and as it was the first style of moul from which a sheet of paper could be taken whil wet, this invention must be considered the firs real step in the development of papermalking. Afte the bamboo laid mould the wire laid mould wa introduced,~first fabricated with iron wire and i later years with brass. Then in the eighteenth century the woven type of mould was reinvented, bu instead of using the woven cloth of the Chinese from which a moist sheet of paper could not b taken, a woven brass screen was employed whic formed a firm and rigid surface. At the close of th eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteent centuries, came inventions for making paper b machine.
