Show Record between the King Creek anticline and the Shafer anticline. I had 1033 occasion to observe the river bed. We had trouble during some of the crossings. 1035 I have been down the Colorado River from Moab to Shafer 1036 No. 1 on the big power boat. We got stuck on a sand bar once going down. They pulled the boat off the sand bar with a windlass. I came back on the same boat. We struck a sand bar once. We reversed the engine and got off without difficulty. Going up stream you would not stick so hard on sand bars as going down stream. Harold W. C. Pommel testified on re- cross examination as follows: I made this trip on the big boat either in January or February, 1926. We left Moab in the morning. We were between four and six hours going from Moab to Shafer well No. 1. We were about eight or nine hours coming back. In going down we were on that sand bar about twenty minutes. There were at least ten people on the boat, besides the crew. They were carrying some freight but I had no knowledge of the tonnage. We arrived at our destination in a good state of health. 1040 John Galloway testified for complainant on direct examination as follows: 1041 I am 40 years old. I have boated on the Green River from almost its starting point to Lees Ferry. I have boated the Grand River from the point called Westwater to the junction of the Green. I have boated on various other rivers. 1042 My father was Nate Galloway, the designer of the Galloway type of boats used on the Colorado River. I made a trip from Westwater to Moab in April or May, 1926 1043 with a 16 foot row boat, 5 foot beam, which drew 4 inches when load- 1044 ed. My brother was with me.
