Show Record you may do so. I did not bring any of the pictures here as witness. 717 I had them here in Denver. I don't know how many I have 718 here. I am still interested in oil lands in the San Juan. Our 719 land down there is all patented. I am leasing some patented land. some of our lands are adjacent to the river bed. 720 Charles Warner Anderson testified for complainant on direct examination as follows: I have operated boats on the Green River in Colorado and 721 in Salt Lake, Utah. As a day laborer I helped build the " City of Moab". We started its construction at Grand Junction and finished 722 it at Green River, Utah. We launched it at Green River ready to go down the river. We put two Watkins 25 H. P. engines in it. I believe it had 6 cabins on each side. She was a double decker. The propelling power was a tunnel type. 723 Prior to taking the City of Moab down the Green River myself and two others made a trip in a row boat 16 feet ling with 2 sets of oars from Green River, Utah, to Moab, Utah. Above the mouth of the San Rafael we got off the boat to push it over the 724 ripples. Below the mouth of the San Rafael we hit some sand bars before reaching the Colorado. We had no particular trouble going up the Colorado to Moab. It was pretty hard work rowing up stream. We went up the slide in the row boat. We did not notice it. We were 10 days making that trip. We had no trouble to speak of with 725 sand bars in the Colorado River. The " City of Moab" was launched on a Sunday, either the 726 5th or 6th of May, 1905. On the trip down the Green River we were 727 able to keep the boat straight. We had a man sitting on the bow of the boat taking soundings all the way down and would call out " Plenty of water here". From Green river to the mouth of the San Rafael we did not hit any sand bars, and we did not get stuck on 728 any gravel bars. After we left the mouth of the San Rafael we hit some sand bars. I could not say at what points. We were about 4 730 or 5 days going from Green river to its junction with the Colorado |
