Show 625 Regent Eccles reported that the State Department of Finance was requesting signature cards from State departments and insti- tutions signed by the personnel authorized to submit various forms and reports and to receive State warrants, Leon D. Garretta Sec- retary and Controller, and Royden E. Weight, Assistant Secretary and Controller, were authorized to sign and file signature cards with the State Finance Commissiono Regent Cosgriff excused. RETURN OF ETTA B. COWLES' LOAN FUND APPROVED Continuing with the Finance Committee report, Regent Eccles reported receipt of a communication from‘Mrsa Etta B. Cowles, requesting the return of funds in the Etta B. Cowles Loan Fund, viz., $140t00, which, under date of October 15,, 19519 were ap» proved as a restricted fund for the purchase of a painting for the Home Economics Living Center, This request is the result of a number of misunderstandings between Mrso Cowles and the Depart- ment. Regent Eccles thereupon moved that Mrs. Cowles' request . be granted, which was seconded by Regent Tomato and carried, FACULTY COMMITTEE FACULTY COMMITTEE REPORT Regent Bowen, reporting for the Chairman, stated that the Committee was not ready to report on its assignment (May 1953 meeting) covering the recommendation of the FacultyCouncil concerning modification of the retirement regulations now in effect at the University.
