Show 552 the following report of its recommendations: (1) That the administration make a 4% across the board raise, and any balance that can be saved, estimated at $33, 000 be used to provide merit increases. In order to do this it will be necessary to raise fees $13.00 per quarter or $39., 00 per year, making the tuition fee $50, 00 per quarter, and the tuition fee in College of Law $60. 00 per quarter ($15. 00 raise) to become effective,with the Fall quarter of 1953. This seems a reasonable thing to do, althought salaries will still be below the raise in the cost-of-living index. However, by so doing, the administration will need an estimated additional $30, 000 to meet the salary raises and the the amount of the 1952-3 budget. It was felt that this amount ($30, 000) might be made up 1m some way during the year, Chairman O'Connor stated that this recommendation of the Finance Committee has the approval of Regent Cosgriff, ‘ its Chairman.
