Show 618 Up proposed articles of incorporation to establish a non-profit corporation to obtain a license and operate an educational TV station. The President stated that he has a copy of the arti- cles of incorporation as proposed, In the letter of transmittal, the boards of various educational institutions are asked to look them over and make recommendations. The President ques- tioned the value of an opinion from the University Board of Regents, inasmuch as the Attorney-General's Office has ruled that the University"s financial participation in the project would require approval of the Board of Examiners and the Finance Commission? There does not seem to be any way, therefore, in which the University can pledge its support to a project of this kind. In the meantime, there is being assembled information regard~ ing costs of establishing a station, using the facilities at the top of the Walker Bank Building, formerly used by KDYL, The President felt that if the State is to have an educa- tional station, it should be controlled and managed on a higher educational level than is proposed by the Commission. The University is more or less waiting to see how the Commission"s plans develop, This shall continue to be the policy for the present time, unless the Board instructs otherwise, The President reported that he is in receipt of an invi- PRESIDENT OLPIN"S tation from the United States Navy Department to participate in a TRIP APPROVED summer cruise on the Atlantic with stop-overs in various ports in Europe, A fleet of ships headed by the Battleship Iowa will carry |
