Show INTERVIEW: Lopez Page 9 do you remember? EL After they moved from Colorado? BH No, after they moved from Hexico. EL It ~11as Kansas City, Kansas City and then from Kansas they moved to Colorado. That's where my brother-in-law became a farmer, well ... he had a little money and then he had the opportunity to work as a farmer himself. BM A farmer? EL Yes, as a farmer for himself. BM What was your first ... what was it like when you came into the United States, did you like the United States? EL Oh yes. BM You did? EL The only thing that I didn't like was that I didn't know the language, because for my trip from E1 Paso to ~esburg during my trip, on the way wherever I had to eat, the only thing I was eating either morning, dinner, or supper, I ordered hot cakes because that was the only thing I could say for dinner, you know, to eat, because I learn it in El Paso, so that what I order, sometimes during the night, the people you know, they would rook at me when I order hot cakes, whatever it was, they look funny to me because I was ordering for breakfast, dinner and supper ... but I didn't know nothing to order anything else. |
