Show 1 1 analysis for skin effect and an analysis for DC characteristics would have different values for resistance and capacitance for example. The Measurement of Interconnect The preprocessing of the interconnect is not a feature in ACRE because it is readily available in any commercial verification or extraction program. This preprocessing consists of operations to perform 'anding' and 'oring' functions to determine when interconnect is above sources, drains, wells, active regions and other features that would change the electrical characteristics. The intersection of paths on different layers is supported in ACRE but the interactions of paths and polygons are more difficult to compute without preprocessing. The measurements consist of determining widths, lengths, bends, intersections, and concurrent runs of paths and associating them with nodes for connectivity. The set of measurements is designed to be full enough to give a first or second order approximation of the resistance and capacitance values derived for digital circuit interconnect. Coupled with the preprocessing, the measurement phase can even help select the equations most appropriate for the model of the layout. Again, this is under the user's control for both the sequencing through the layout, and the mathematical rules applied. |
