Q What did you do with it? A Burned it up. Q Whereabouts? A About twelve or fourteen miles above the junction of the river on the Green; didn't burn it entirely up there, but we burned one side entirely off, and to show you how much was burned, in the bottom we had two oak oars lying in the bottom; they were entirely burned up; the bottom was charred very bad, and the other side charred very bad. Q You had two boats, didn't you? A No sir. Q How did you get on up to Moab? A Well, we had to get to the junction first; we took and put a canvas on this side that was burned out; it burned up all of our bedding and everything, our grub; and we got in this boat, we will call it now, one in one end and one in the middle and one in the back end, and put a little fire in the bake oven so as to have a little fire; when we got to the junction, that's the way we arrived at the junction; we had |
