Show 6783 Wimmer- D 4772 that turned around; on two sides of that had a lot of little brass plates, perfectly loose. As this oblong would come up, it would close the hole off and push the water out; then when it came down to the other side it would let the water in. It was flat on one side. Then as it came down to the bottom it picked up' water; these plates would drop down again, pick it up, and turn it right around. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How did that eliminate the sand? A Pumped the sand right on through. We really had no trouble. The water is sandy, but it is very fine sand, simply wears a pump out, a regular suction pump, just like it does a suction pump pumping for a ranch. 1480 of the record -- " There was so much sediment in the water at the time we left Greenriver that the packing in the pump of the motor lasted about two hours." Were you with him at that time? A No sir. Q Did you ever have experience of that kind? |
