Q What they call a portable mill? A Yes sir. Q What kind was the next one? A Well, sir, when we put in a full crew, when we needed it, we could get thirty thousand a day. Q When did you get your thirty thousand mill? A I don't remember, -- somewhere about 1905 or 1906, somewhere along there. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What kind of lumber is it up there, -- yellow pine or spruce? A Yellow pine and white spruce; all depends on where you are. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q These rafts you took down, did you ever have any difficulty getting stuck on the riffles? A No sir. Q Never got stuck on the riffles any time? |
