Show 6781 Wimmer- D 4770 to cool it. I put a five- gallon can on the back of the boat, dipped the water and poured into the can, and let it run through th engine. Q So the trouble that Mr. Lint testified to was not on the boat when you were navigating it? A No sir. MR. FARNSWORTH: I was going to go into that matter later, but since we have started, this is probably a good place to go into it. Q Mr. Wimmer, I wish you would state what if any diffi-culties there are with reference to cooling your motor, keeping it cool, or with reference to the danger of injuring your engines in operating in muddy water or sandy water, and state if you know how that is avoided. A Well, there is a difference between an Evinrude motor and a larger Marine motor. An Evinrude motor -- the first time I really -- the first trip down to the San Juan and back we had this trouble with our pumps; we had a pump on this new engine; that is my first experience with that kind. Before we got back, why, this pump wore out; we took a can that we had been carrying gasoline in, and set it up a little higher than the engine was; the water from the can would run by gravity; had a little piece of hose, and it run by gravity |
