Show 6804 Wimmer- D 4793 get the easy water; in high water, when a flood condition arises, the channel is there just the same; this side of the river don't go dry, the lower part of it; when four feet more water come in, the channel is there just the same. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q That raises the question I have asked other withesses, what practice do you follow when you come up stream? Do you try to take the same channel that you take coming down, or otherwise? A It is owing to the condition of the water. In low water you have to take the same channel. In high water you take your back eddy water; part of it runs up stream quits a distance; we take that eddy water. Q Most of these trips that you have described have been in the fall of the year, September, October, November. What is your practice in those months coming up stream? A In the fall of the year you have to take the real channel. Q What d o you mean by that, the same channel that you took going down? A That you took down, yes sir. Q You try to take that same channel coming back? A Yes sir, have to. |
