Show 6788 Wimmer- D 4778 Q You have experimented with different types? A Yes sir. Q What, from your knowledge and experience, is essential in a paddle wheel in order to make the power of the engine available? A To get a paddle that won't slip through the water, get it large enough so it has hold enough of the water so it won't slip. To explain, we take a row boat, take a couple of hay-fork handles and pull a row boat with them, they will slip. Take a wide enough paddle or oar, they won't slip; the boat slips, instead. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q If the paddles are too close together, you get less power, because the paddle come out of the water too quick? A If they are too close the water don't really get time BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q I f you have a small paddle wheel with the paddles too close, does it make a great deal of difference what the horse-power of your engine is? four- foot wheel and a two- horsepower engine, they might work |
