Show Jerry Chambers 1966 WAC Athlete of the Year Jim Osborne is the best tennis player ever to play for the University. A native of Hawaii, Jim has not lost a varsity match in three years of WAC competition. Ranked among the top ten amateurs in the nation, he has travelled for the past year with the United States Davis Cup team, competing with the best tennis players in the world. Jim Osborne Tennis Last year's All-American basketball star, Jerry Chambers, was named the outstanding Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year. Finishing his last ten games with better than a 30 point per game average, Chambers led Utah to the NCAA finals where he gained Most Valuable Player honors and even more prestige to Utah basketball. Mike Kimball Gymnastics Clutching an injured shoulder after making 26 record-setting tackles in the Utah State game, John Stipech ended an awesome career at Utah. Co-captain of the football team, John was known for his great will to win. Drafted to play pro-ball, he is a B-j- student in pre-law. John Stipech Football When he broke his leg near the end of the season, gymnast Mike Kimball was given no hope of more competition in the near future. But with a cast on his leg, Mike entered and took fifth place in the parallel bars event at the NCAA regionals to qualify himself for the finals in Illinois. Utah's leading gymnast, Mike is looking forward to the 1968 Olympics. |
