Show Golf Having lost his mainstays from last year's golf team, coach Vinnie McGuire faces a year of rebuilding to make a young and inexperienced crew of men into conference contenders. With only two seniors, Gary Summerhays and John Clay, the team lacks depth, but with a fine crop of sophomore and freshmen linksters, there is great potential: In a conference that is rated third in the nation, Utah's team promises to do well against stiff competition. Members of the golf team are John Clay, Reid Good-liffe, Gary Summerhays, Tom Mageras, Lynn Summerhays, and Coach Vinnie McGuire. Sports Information Director Ron Fessenden A dynamic young man, Ron Fessenden, in his freshman year as Sports Information Director, has impressed everyone with his zeal and ability to present the University's athletic teams to the public. Ron's colorful brochures publicizing each team add much to the image of the Athletic Department. A graduate of Utah, Ron worked with Presidential Assistant Parry Sorensen during his school days. Before coming here Ron was a correspondent for NBC TV and Northern Utah Bureau Manager for KUTV Television. An indication of Ron's talent and initiative is the fact that he is now president of the Western Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors. Ron Fessenden Sports Information Director |
