Show Seven areas comprise Mr. Maxwell's specific field of responsibility and keep him continually associated with all aspects of university life: planning, institutional studies, the budget, alumni, public relations, athletics and development. Together they represent his basic responsibility - that of interpreting the university to the community. In his view, the functions of his office are necessary and invaluable insofar as they facilitate and support the more substantive sectors of university organization,- consequently, it must never neglect the needs of the academic community. Mr. Maxwell, a popular teacher in the Political Science department, is well acquainted with these needs. On his own time, he has been active in church work, community projects and the Legislative Study Committee. Vice President of Plannin and Public Affairs Neal A. Maxwell Vice President of Planning and Public Affairs Vice Presidents Mr. Erickson is respected and admired by faculty and students alike for his expertise in social psychology and his keen understanding of group dynamics and leadership training. Representing the university in its public affairs he has used his vast experience to good advantage in dealing with "the problems of human beings trying to work together.' After a year of administrative training at Cornell, Dr. Monson assumed a newly created position and brought to it the same perseverance, concern for students and high academic standards which made him an outstanding teacher in the Department of Philosophy.
