Show Academic Vice President In his second year in the administration, Mr. Emery brings to his position a genuine enthusiasm for the University and an extensive professional background from the College of Law. As Academic Vice President he coordinates the academic programs of the thirteen colleges and is responsible for the directions in which the university develops and expands its intellectual character. His guiding principle in pursuing these duties is, in his words, "to maintain an environment in which ideas can be freely exchanged and critically examined, and in which the learning process of both faculty and students can flourish and grow." In order to preserve such a climate, he feels the university must constantly re-evaluate its academic offerings and adjust them accordingly to guarantee the most significant learning experience possible. Alfred C. Emery Academic Vice President Business Vice President Paul W. Hodson, the president-elect of the Western Association of College and University Business Officers, is directly responsible to President Fletcher for all areas of university business. Under his supervision are university construction, maintenance of the physical plant, finances and personnel. In short, it's his job to keep the business of running a university efficent and smooth without impinging on its academic prerogatives. Having taught in the College of Business, Mr. Hodson is thoroughly acquainted with the requirements of the faculty and well equipped to further their interests as the university organization grows. As he sees it, the university should strive to be "an inspiration to all, functionally conducive to the best and finest implementation of a university academic program." Paul W.
