Carlson and the Apartments are limited to women occupants. The rest offer housing in separate wings for both men and women. The students who live in the dorms come from most of the 50 states and 15 foreign countries. For many it is a unique experience. Facilities such as weight rooms, study lounges, pianos, and TV rooms are available for the students' use. Activities such as dorm exchanges, wing or floor dinners, and open houses provide a means of meeting new friends and sharing in the fun of dorm living. The officers coordinate the activities of the five dorm complexes by best meeting the needs of the some 1400 students living in the dorms. The Resident Janet Hemming works diligently as the "Resident" editor. The weekly dorm newspaper, "The Resident," is written by dorm students about events that are taking place on that part of the campus. During fall quarter under the editorship of Don Crandall, the paper made the dorm student more aware of his position in the dorm structure and how he can make it more effective. The editor s position changed to the capable hands of Janet Hemming during winter quarter. Columns such as "This Week" and "As I See It" kept the students informed about future events as well as providing a personal commentary. Pam Hanson and Jane Lobell help put together the next issue. A quick look at the last edition. |
