Show Spotlight Mr. Paul Banham discusses "The Agony of German Music." Germany is a country steadfast in tradition and old world custom, yet progressive and modern by twentieth century standards. A view of both the old and new Germany was spotlighted this year for the University. Displays depicting eras of German progression and history were viewed in the Union's east ballroom while the center ballroom was a continuous center of activity with numerous artists and speakers. The entire week presented such attractions as German folk dancers, singers, the music of German composers and other cultural events. For the intellectual, speeches concerning German politics, Germany's role in the modern world, and the possibility of the unification of the two Germanys, were presented. The Spotlight Committee tried to present to the University an accurate picture of current Germany-a new profile in Europe. f f , Larry Johnson with co-chairman Michael Miller and Diane Summerhays, cut the ribbon to begin Spotlight activities. |
