Show "You mean I have to take Body-Posture Conditioning at 7:45?" welcome Week The quest for knowledge and the desire for self improvement led Freshmen and transfer students to choose the University of Utah as the right place to further their education. They knew that they had made the right choice as they selected and attended the many orientation programs and activities ranging from stomps, workshops and the "U" whitewash, to discussion sessions, campus tours, registration and President James C. Fletcher's convocation. Welcome Week not only introduced new students to the "U", but it also gave them a warm feeling of belonging to a great institution. They liked it here because beyond the numerous planned activities, there was the impromptu fun that comes any time college students get together. Being an especially perceptive group, the incoming students soon discovered that "OSH" is not a local disease, that the "Huddle' is not a new dance, and that the Cork Room" is not a bar. Leadership qualities are learned during a workshop at Park City for U. of U. freshmen. President James C. Fletcher welcomes new students at the President's Convocation. 125 |
