Show 300 ON THE BIRDS OF THE PHCSNIX ISLANDS. [Apr. 21, TOTANUS INCANUS (Gmel.). A few solitary individuals of this Sandpiper frequented the sandy shores of the lagoon of Canton Island. The following twenty-six species of birds have been observed at the Phoenix Group ':- CHARADRIID.E. Charadrius fulvus, Gmel Sydney Island (Arundel), Sydney, Phcenix, and Canton Islands. Strepsilas interpres (Linn.) Sydney, Phcenix, and Canton Islands. Numenius tahitiensis, Gmel Canton Island (Phoenix and Sydney Islands ?). Totanus incanus (Gmel.) Sydney Island (Arundel), Canton Island. LARID.E. Sterna beryii (Licht.) Canton Island. panaya, Gmel M'Kean Island (Graffe). fuliginosa, Gmel Phcenix and Canton Islands. 'lunata, Peale M'Kean Island (Graffe), Phcenix and Canton Islands. melanauchen, Temm Canton Island. Anous stolidus (Linn.) M'Kean Island (Graffe), Gardner Island (Pickering), Phcenix and Canton Islands. cceruleus (Bennett) M'Kean Island (Grciffe), Sydney, Phcenix, Canton, and Birnie Islands.
