Show 91 A That is part of the Colorado River. The Green River itself was flowing probably 20,000 second- feet; the Colorado was flowing probably another 20,000 second- feet; so that the combined rivers may have been as high as 40,000 second- feet at the head of Cataract Canyon-- which was at 119,000 second feet during the flood. Q Well, your recollection is a little imperfect, do you not think? A No, it is simply a lack of accurate knowledge concerning the exact amount of second feet. It is all in the Government records. It would be simply a matter of looking it up. I have not looked it up. Q You have an impression that, in fixing the 119,000 second- feet in your mind, it was an estimated number of second- feet in Cataract Canyon? A Yes. Q After deducting the San Juan? A Yes. Q Of course, you would not be positive about that, without rechecking it? A No, My chief recollection is the way the water came up that night. I was not figuring the number of feet. Q Did you make any geological studies at all? A I had with me a man who is now an instructor at Northwestern University in geology, and two students who were majoring in it. 2051 |
