Show 168 apparently was not in place in 1909. The survey of this bar is shown on Plate 23, there being a drop of 3 feet through the riffle. The channel depths there were from 1 to 3 feet, with numerous submerged rocks. By Mr. Farnsworth: Q You say that that is not mentioned in the 1909 report? Mr. Blackmar: No. A The Sunaba bar is not mentioned as such. This reference to the rocks in the channel may refer to the rocks which are now in the Sunaba bar. The second Anvil bar at 101.5 miles above the mouth, is practically that of the 1909 survey. By Mr. Farnsworth: Q Pardon me. Do you say that the Sunaba does indicate a changed condition from that existing in 1909? A There was no bar and riffle surveyed as such by the Army engineers, and I assume that it was not there, because they made a very carefully survey of all the riffles, and I assume that this bar and riffle were not there. By the Special Master: Q Would you say that they mentioned rocks? A They mentioned rocks in the river. Q The same rocks? A Of course, I would have no way of knowing. Their 2129 |
