Show 73 Complainant's Exhibit No. 49. A ( Examining photograph) This photograph was a typical canyon wall going through Glen Canyon. The stone there is a sandstone, principally, and at the outer bends in the river, especially, the river has cut itself steep wall banks, that rise from 150 to 300 or 400 feet above level of the water. By the Special Master: Q That is a very different formation from that lower down, is it not? A No; there is no place like Glen Canyon, which has steep wall sides. Down below it has steep wall sides, but it is igneous rock. ( The photograph referred to was received in evidence and marked " Complainant's Exhibit No. 49.") By Mr. Blackmar: Q How much water did you boat, the " Powell," draw? A About 14 to 18 inches. Q And the " Dellenbaugh?" A About the same amount. Q All three of them drew about the same? A Yes. By the Special Master: Q 14 to 18 inches? A Yes, sir. By Mr. Blackmar: Q. Mr. Eddy, from the junction of the Green and the Colorado on down to Lees Ferry did you encounter any other boats? 2033 |
