Show 57 Mr. Farnsworth: Exhibits 28 and 29 were both taken at the same rapids? The Witness: Yes, sir. By Mr. Blackmar: Q Will you tell me about this photograph, which will be introduced as Exhibit No. 30 ( handing photograph to witness)? A ( Examining photograph) This photograph shows a hole knocked in our small boat. Q What was the name of that boat? A The Dellenbaugh. This accident occurred when we were lining the boat around. As frequently happens in the river, the swift current will one between the shore and the bow of the boat, so that the bow of the boat suddenly starts toward the middle of the river; then the current will sweep it out 30 or 40 feet, and then, as you draw your bow to the shore, the bow will turn towards you, and then the current will dash it back against the shore and smash your boat, ashappened here. Q Is this one of the larger boats? A No; that is the smaller boat. This boat had eight patches on it when we finally got through the trip. Q Mr. Blackmar: This photograph is offered in evidence as Complainant's Exhibit No. 30. ( The photograph referred to was received in evidence and marked " Complainant's Exhibit No. 30.") By Mr. Blackmar: Q Tell me, Mr. Eddy, about this photograph which is 2017 |
