Anton Willemsen, acting as battery commander, was an able executive. He was ably aided by assistant battery commander Herbert Howard. Lambert Gibson, Dal Siegel and Kenneth Luckey were great aids as platoon commanders. First Sergeant O. C. Jones, working under this group, proved to be efficient at his work. The section chiefs were Laird, Keller, Ken Reimers and Cromar. The guidon carrier duties fell to Olsen, who carried on his work with unusual success. This group of officers truly handled the group of fifty cadets in unusually fine direction. But the officers owed much of their success to Lieutenant Holweger and Captain Harris, who gave unstintingly of their time for their benefit. Lieutenant Holweger is planning for even more success in next year's program, which will be the second ever carried on at the University of Utah unit. At the final rite, May 18, when a luncheon will be held alongside going through their paces, the officers for next year will be selected. This is different to most branches of army work as the directors usually gain their positions by appointment. This truly shows the independence of the Sunrise Battery. Speculation is rife as to who will be elected to lead the early morning group next year.WILLEMSEN Cadet ColonelTHE RODEO SECTION IN ACTIONTwo hundred seventy-threen |
