U. played to a scoreless tie before a handful of fans who braved the winter weather to see a typical mud fight. At three different times Utah had chances to end the deadlock, but each time the clawing Cougar snarled and fought with such aggression that the Redskins had to withdraw the attack. Ued by the meteoric Rowe, the Provo school fought the Utes to a perfect standstill and kept them on a nervous tension throughout with brilliant end runs and bullet-like passes. Time after time a Utah thrust would be made only for the ball carrier to slip to his knees in a sea of mud, or to run up against a fighting Cougar. The second quarter saw a chance for a Utah score when Goodwin caught Pomeroy's pass and paddled his way for twenty-five yards to the "Y" fifteen yard line. Couch made three yards and Pomeroy four, but on the next play Rowe threw Pete back six yards. A placekick failed and B. Y. U. took the ball on its own twenty yard line. A Cougar back fumbled and Utah recovered. Couch slid for a yard and Hodgson made four, followed by no gain by Goodwin. A pass failed and when the ball went over, Rowe kicked out of danger. In the third quarter, Rowe spiraled a floater to Reeves for forty yards and placed the oval on Utah's thirty-two yard line. Thorne made fourteen yards and Utah stiffened. A place kick was unsuccessful and when Utah kicked, Dixon blocked the pigskin, but Couch recovered and punted out of danger.Something in the way of a long trip proved a great trial for Utah, when Ike Armstrong and his band huddeled back to Omaha to encounter Creighton university and found the going rather tough, taking either end of a 7-7 count. As the count stood even, Utah marched down the field in the last moments and had the ball 7 yards from a score when the gun barked finis.Goodwin scored from the six yard line and Summer-hays converted after two passes had advanced the ball. On the next play, Rombough, Creighton back, ran 80 yards from the kick-off for a touchdown and Hunt converted to even the score, which was hereafter uninterrupted.
