C.CARRYING an inkling of the bubbling Thanksgiving spirit over a couple of months, Vadal Peterson's Lite five, with perfect backing, turned on the traditional Utah Agricultural college aggregation for a clean sweep in the first series. The Aggies' hook-passing attack went hay-wire under the pressure of the forceful Utah guarding line. Red Wade's guess-shots at the hoop found their way through once in a while, but for the most part, his trials, as well as those of his mates, went astray and found the Utes capturing the first tilt, 42-27. The work of the Crimson defense in this contest marked its highwater mark of the year. Even the great Glen Worthington fell down in the scoring column. On the second night, a desperate, typical Farmer rally took effect and just about rode the Utes where the huskies from Logan wanted them. It was not at all a clear-cut decision, that 35-34 victory of Utah's, though it was well earned. The late stages found the Aggies uncorking their old-time form, sometimes unlashing incredible shots from the sidelines. The Aggies had their day when they played host to the Utes at Logan. They simply had the Redskin jinx, much as they proved the downfall of the Bobcats in the second game of the year. The fighting Aggies completely outclassed the Alma Mater five to win, 42-27 and 44-37. Utah's fight came near coping with the Farmer spirit the second night, but their first game's efforts were futile as far as trying to win was concerned. Logan must be reckoned on any floor, but especially in Logan. Along with the general increased interest in the hoop barometer throughout Utah, the Aggie backers increased in temperature and gave their team fine support.RAY PRICE CenterREESE LLEWELLYN ForwardTHERON DAVIS GuardCHARLES JOHNSON GuardQne hundred thirty-two |
