C.&&*vTHE Reserve Officers Training Corps of the University of Utah has been very successful in previous years, and from all indications at the recent inspection of the unit held May 6, 1929, it will continue to be endowed with the same success. The unit was inspected by Lieutenant-Colonel Edmund C. Waddill, Infantry D. O. L., who is from the ninth corps area headquarters located at the Presidio of San Francisco. He will not make his report concerning the inspection until the latter part of May. Until that time nothing will be known publicly concerning success or failure of the units' endeavors to rates as excellent. The unit of the University is formed into a regiment of six batteries. A presiding officer is placed over each battery. The bulk of the regiment is made up of freshmen and sophomores, the juniors and seniors holding all of the commissions and major offices. Appointments to the various grades are determined by the character of the individual as well as the efficiency of his class work. Those who guided the destinies of the regiment this year received their positions according to this system of appointment. The regimental officers of the past year were: Colonel Willemsen, Lieutenant-Colonel Howard, Captain Regimental Adjutant Thatcher, and Captain B. Jones of Plans and Training. The aim of this staff is to direct the regiment in such a manner that each member will receive a fundamental knowledge of field artillery.â- ifi*JSts:-^..
