John Hudson, artist and writer, chronicles his travels from New York City across the Plains towards California to partake in the Gold Rush. What was to have been a temporary stop in Salt Lake City stretches to sixteen months and includes participation in Captain Howard Stansbury's expedition of the Great Salt Lake. |

Appendices O of all collections to the Finance Committc, who shall deliver the same to the Treasurer for de- posit. Section Y.--The duty of the Surgeon shall be to receive all bIedicines and Hospital stores and have charge of all Hospital arrangements ; pre- scribe for and administer to the sick at all times, night or day, to decide as to the physi- cal ability of any member to perform duty, and look after the health and comfort of each mem- ber of the company. He shall be the only officer or member exempt from labour in the Mines. &don 8.-The duties of the Judge shall be fairly and impartially to try and decide all crimes and misdemeanors, with the exception of those specified in Article IV., of this Consti- tution he shall also decide all petty com- plaints, and impose such penalties or fines as he may deem just, but the parties thereto not being satisfied with his decision may have the right of appeal, and demand a jury trial, the prison- er being allowed the privilege of counsel, and right of challenging. Se&ion 9 .-It shall be the duty of the Secre- tary to call the roll at the meetings of the Company, keep correct minutes of the proceed- ings thereof, notify each member of the Com- pany of all elections, one week previous thereto, and act as corresponding Secretary. Seclion lo.-It shall be the duty of the Trea- surer to receive all monies and treasures of the 202 |
