Show Protection Against Claims 6. The District shall hold the United States, its officers, agents, employees, and successors or assigns harmless from every claim for damages to persons or property, direct or indirect, and of whatever nature, arising out of or in any manner connected with the fact that the dam has been constructed or arising out of or in any manner connected with the operation or maintaiance of any of the works to be constructed hereunder or any acts to be performed here-under or arising from the use and occupancy of any lands or interests in lands required for any operations under this contract. Assumption of Operation and Maintenance of Dam and Appurtenant Works 7. (a) The District shall assume the care, operation and maintenance of the dam and appurtenant works to be constructed pursuant to Article 4(a) at such time as the Secretary determines said dam and appurtenant works are substantially completed and so advises the District in writing. Thereafter, except as herein otherwise provided, the District shall, at its ow. cost and without expense to the United States, care for and operate and maintain said dam and appurtenant works in such manner that the same shall remain in as good and efficient condition as when the District first assumed the care, operation and maintenance thereof. After the care, opeiation and maintenance of said v;orks shall have been assumed by the District, the District shall, in accordance with the provisions of Article 6 hereof, hold the United States, its officers, agents, employees, and successors or assigns 12 |
