Show had no more difficulty in 166 going from mouth of Dirty Devil to Lees Ferry than going from mouth of ( Sail San ) Rafael to ( mouth niouth ) of Green River ; plenty parts of the river where even if careful will not be able to ( sur- sur ) mount the difficulty ( R . 1107 ) . 1926 , Sept . , Nye . - ( M . R . 71Y Abs . R . , Vol . 2 pp . 1050-1055 : ) Between Greenriver and ( mouth niouth ) of San Rafael great deal of difficulty encountered because of ( nu- nu ) merous rapids , and were in water ( most inost ) of time trying to get boat down stream ; took three days to get to that point ; most trouble at mouth of San Rafael where necessary to wade up and down stream several times and drag boat over rocks and gravel to get down stream ; difficult to find one continuous channel to float boat ( R . 4183-4184 ; between San Rafael and mouth of Green encountered one riffle about 7 or 8 miles above the mouth of Green ; great deal of trouble getting stuck on or avoiding sand bars ; took 8 days to get to mouth of Green River from town of Greenriver ( R . 4183 ) ; hardly hour passed but that necessary to get out and wade stream to find channel deep enough to float boat ( R . 4184 ; from mouth of Green to Moab , had more water because of rain , so little trouble encountered ; beyond the Slide had whirlpools , nothing serious ; had considerable ( diffi- diffi ) culty with sand bars ( R . ( 4184r-4185 4184r4185 ) ) ; had interlacing channels , would wade river find channel , float boat by dragging it across river , that channel would end , and then would have to wade some more ( R . 4191 ) . |
