Show Boats ( grounded gr"ounded grounded ) between 161 Greenriver and mouth of San Rafael ; experienced good deal of trouble from sand bars all along through Labyrinth Canyon ; good deal of swift water between Greenriver and mouth ( of of' of ) San Rafael ; when boats hit bars would get out ( some- some ) times and pull boats over ; sometimes rocked boats from side to side to get them loose ; grounded from Labyrinth Canyon to cataracts ( R . 1782-1783 ) ; . below Cataract Canyon found patches of swift water ; . from Narrow Canyon to Lees Ferry grounded on sand bars ; followed same practice of getting off ; pushing . where they could and going overboard where they could not do that ( R . 1789 ) . 1909 Sept . , ( Newby- Newby ) ( M . Vol . 2 , p . 841 : ) Got sttick a mile before they got to ( Wolverton's Wolvertons ) , , ranch ; had to get out of boat , so made camp on shore ; upstream between Bowknot Bend and ( Wol-- Wol ) ( ver's vers ) ranch encountered sand and gravel bars ; from there to Greenriver encountered usual difficulties . with sand and . gravel bars .
