Vol . 1 , pp . 492-494 ) : Clark ( -Between Between ) Greenriver and mouth of San Rafael encountered difficulties with riffles ; dragged bottom ; stuck on sand bars in shallow water fifteen or twenty minutes ; got in water and shoved off ( R . 1711-1712 ) ; from San Rafael to mouth of Green trouble with sand bars , stuck several times a day , got out in water and pushed off ( R . 1712-1713 ) ; from end of cataracts to Lees Ferry had difficulties running onto bars ; shallow water ; boats hung up ; difficulty with whirlpools ; encountered . riffles in Glen Canyon , water shallow ; could have taken the boat back ( up- up ) stream from Lees Ferry to cataracts with proper equipment and six men ( R . 1720 ) . 1927 , Blake . - ( M . Vol . 2 , p 1339 ) : Got through Slide with boat , taking five minutes going through the hundred yards ; never towed on the river ( R . 5208 ) ; this was one of the highest water seasons in years ( R . 5208 ) ; channel did not change so . much from high water , but current changes at points where water struck an obstruction ( R . 5220-5221 ) ; had the most difficulty in operating his boats between Greenriver , Utah , and ( Wimmer's Wimmers ) ranch ; riffle just below Greenriver bridge is most dangerous in low |
