Show opinion . The opinion , however , is printed in full in the abstract of the record of the case on file in this Court ( see record p . 769 et seq . ) and discloses ( p . 788 ) boats called Cleveland or Kansas Millers , and The Carrie Clyde operated to a limited extent above the Grand River ; that the City of Muskogee was operated for excursion purposes near the town of Muskogee ; that a boat carrying 90 to 100 tons could operate ( be- be ) tween Weber Falls and Grandriver ; that ferries were maintained at numerous places ( on oil ) the river ; that near the City of Tulsa there were skiffs , gasoline launches , and house boats . For other instances of operations of boats , see Appendix to this brief , page 196 . This description presents a picture of a river more adaptable for the purpose of navigation than either the Colorado in Utah , the Green , or the San Juan rivers . The Red River is below the latitude where the temperatures are low enough to produce ice in the river during the winter months . The Colorado and Green Rivers are subject to ice practically three months of the year . The water of the Red river rises rapidly and falls in the same way . On the Utah rivers the rise is more rapid and more violent . The Red River has a fall of more than one foot to the mile . The Colorado ( Grand ) River has a fall , between Castle Creek and Moab , of 4.4 feet to the mile ; from Moab to the Junction , on the Green river , of 1.14 feet |
