Show realize significant benefits from the Bonneville Unit. It was agreed that facilities would be provided to mitigate losses to fish, wildlife, and recreation upon the lands of the Ute Indian Tribe. The mitigation would include: ( 1) a minimum of 25 c. f. s. of water in Rock Creek at the Ashley Forest Indian Reservation boundary; ( 2) waterfowl management areas to be established along the Duchesne River; ( 3) the operation and maintenance of the recreation, fishery, and wildlife features of the Midview Reservoir would be transferred to the Ute Indian Tribe, and a minimum fishery pool would be maintained in the reservoir; and ( k) fishing lakes aggregating approximately 800- surface acres would be constructed on Indian lands for fishery and recreation purposes. ^ For greater detail, refer to paragraph D2 of this statement.) Some critics contend that the quality of the replacement water for the Indians would be inferior to the local supply that could be developed. For canals in the Uinta Basin diverting high up on the streams this would be true. For canals diverting lower down in the streams, it would not be true. A comparison of dissolved solids concentrations at selected locations will serve to illustrate this. Replacement water to the Indian lands would be from the Green River.
