Show Stinking Springs site, located about \ mile upstream from the Soldier Creek Damsite. The small dam would impound inflow between it and the Strawberry and Indian Creek Dams. The Stinking Springs Pumping Plant and Canal would be constructed to convey this water back to the Strawberry Reservoir. Impacts common to all three alternatives listed above include relocation of Strawberry Water Users service facilities near the east portal\ relocation of Madison's, Strawberry, Clark's and Trout Creek Boat Camps; relocation of Bryant Fork Ranger Station; relocation of 5.8 miles of U. S. Highway kO; relocation of 18.1 miles of secondary road; and relocation of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources fish traps. In addition, alternative ( l) would require relocating 6.2 miles of the 550 c. f. s. Indian Creek Canal and 5.2 miles of the 125 c. f. s. Trail Hollow Diversion Canal. The relocation of these two canals would result in a construction scar of 200 acres; approximately two- thirds of this area would be rehabilitated, leaving a permanent scar of 70 acres, consisting of the canal and an operating road. In addition to the common impacts listed above, alternative ( 2) would require approximately 3,000 acres of land in the Indian Creek area, which would increase the surface area of the existing reservoir and enhance recreational and fishing potential. Alternative ( 3) would require 600 acres more than that required in alternative ( 2) for reservoir area. The 50 c. f. s. Stinking Springs Pumping Plant would be located approximately 7-^ miles from the Strawberry Reservoir. Approximately 2.5 miles of fishing stream would be inundated by the l6,000- acre- foot reservoir near Stinking Springs, and no appreciable fishing benefits would be gained. A 36- inch discharge line, 2. U miles in length, and a canal, 5.3 miles in length, from Stinking Springs to the Strawberry Reservoir would result in a construction scar of 80 acres. The long- time effect would be a 586 |
