Show 80 The 1968 recreational analysis envisioned a $ 10.2 million development " by the year 2000. Current plan formulation would allow for re- evaluation of needs and funding requirements and provide an opportunity for updating appropriate components. One important aspect of the development plan would be that since all of the existing fishing villages are within " take line," existing unattractive and unsanitary facilities would be removed. New villages that may develop would be constructed according to higher standards of esthetics and sanitation. The National Park Service is presently finishing preparation of the planning for construction of three boat ramps for the reservoir. These would be located at Soldier Creek, Windy Ridge, and Bryants Fork. Section 8 funding for fiscal year 197^- is extremely limited so it is anticipated that only the Soldier Creek structures could be built during this time. The Bureau of Reclamation proposes to facilitate completion of plan formulation and carry out construction as rapidly as possible. Program funding is being requested for fiscal year 1975. ( c) Facilities for Proposed Features Preliminary plans for recreational developments on the remaining Unit reservoirs and Utah Lake have been prepared. However, in view of changes in use demand for outdoor recreation that might occur, it is necessary to keep these plans flexible. The Bureau of Reclamation intends to correlate adequate recreational development with construction activities and to work closely with cooperating agencies to ensure proper planning and coordination of projects. Miscellaneous Recreational Aspects The proposed Unit plan is flexible in that newly developed recreational considerations, if feasible, would be accommodated. In this regard it is planned to work closely with concerned Federal and State agencies. All Unit reservoirs ( except those located on Indian lands and Syar and Sixth Water Reservoirs) would be acquired, developed, and administered for maximum beneficial public use in keeping with Department of the Interior policy. This would include hunting and fishing as well as other forms of outdoor recreation, Comprehensive management plans would be formulated cooperatively with water users organizations and interested State and Federal agencies. 466 |
