Show Weather Modification Weather modification could be combined with all alternative sources of water except desalting and geo- thermal sources. It would work best in combination with local stream development and importation from the Weber and Bear Rivers. It could also be used to supplement existing water- source projects. Geothermal Geothermal sources are unrelated to any other alternative source and could therefore be used individually or as a supplemental source for any other alternative source. The cost of development would remain relatively constant with respect to the various sizes and combinations of alternative sources of water, the cost varying with the cost of delivering water to points of use. Weber River Importation from the Weber River could be developed in combination with various scales of development of each alternative source of water and with various arrangements of combinations of the alternative sources of water. The only alternative that would not be related in some way would be geothermal sources. Desalting of brackish water would compete directly with this alternative. Bear River Various scales of importation from the Bear River could be developed with various combinations of groundwater, local stream development, weather modification, and importation from the Weber River. Geothermal sources of water could be developed independently of importation from the Bear River. Desalting of brackish waters would compete directly with the uses of the Bear River. Development of groundwater or local streams cannot be considered as an alternative to the use of Bear River water because of the time period when each could be developed. Groundwater and local streams can be developed sooner and for less cost than other sources; therefore, they would be developed first and would not be a direct alternative to importation from the Bear River. Combinations of Alternative Sources of Water with Alternatives of Partial Construction Possible combinations of alternative sources of water and partial construction of the proposed plan or no construction 573 |
