Show construction activities. This excavated material would be shaped to conform with the natural area and then treated and seeded, with natural vegetation. Construction activities would temporarily disrupt the fauna in the upper end of Round Valley. Increased flows would be released into Main Creek for about 10.6 miles from Wallsburg Tunnel outlet to Deer Creek Reservoir. The flow would be increased throughout the year and reach a maximum during July of each year. The channel would be riprapped for protection against erosion from the increased flows. Streamflows in the Provo River from Deer Creek Dam to Murdock Diversion Dam would be increased above the Bonneville Unit flows. The impacts from using this water for municipal and industrial purposes in Salt Lake County would be about the same as the impacts from using Bonneville Unit water. Return flows from the municipal water supplies could be made available for industrial uses. The return flows could also be made available to the bird refuges near the mouth of the Jordan River, and the outflow from them could be used to maintain a higher level in the Great Salt Lake than without this alternative. Proposed Plan With Recommended Minimum Fishery Flows ( l) Description of the Alternative Under this alternative ( Figure H- 13) the Bonneville Unit would be completed as presently proposed, except that Upper Stillwater and Lower Stillwater Dams and Reservoirs would not be constructed and water would be bypassed from the Strawberry Aqueduct to meet the minimum flows recommended by the Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources for fishery purposes. These minimum fishery flows, together with those recommended by the U. S. Forest Service, are summarized in Table H- 8. As previously explained, once the transbasin diversion flows are decreased, the Ute Indian Tribe would exercise their water right for 15,2^ 2 acres of Group 5 lands. This demand would have priority over the demands of the non- Indians. Therefore, the plan must include the allowance for the development of the Indian Group 5 lands covered under the Indian Deferral Agreement. This alternative, therefore, reflects bypasses for minimum fishery flows and Indian Group 5 lands. 564 |
