Show (PS me jiml iiqnis Mm...Union 418, our campus home for the past year, has been a good office for the Utonian, and if its walls could speak they would tell many and varied stories of the year's outstanding events. Among these would be the interesting talks we had with the engravers and printers last spring, the excitement that reigned in the office the day contracts were signed, the many hours spent during the summer months in planning out the pages of the book, the confusion that took over the office during registration last fall, the days when new pictures of student life were tacked on the ever popular bulletin boards, the many times when the staff and other interested students poured over the pages of the numerous yearbooks on the table, the wonderful joy experienced by all of us when the first completed pages of the book were brought up from press, the big day when the last of the panels were sent to the engraver, the staff photographers' sighs of relief when the last pictures were taken, the satisfaction the editors displayed the day the last of the copy was turned over to the printer, the exciting day the covers arrived, and finally the unbelievable day that the Utonian was ,vout on time in '49."All of these events took place in such a short time we hardly had a chance to catch our breath. Now that it is all over we are grateful for the wonderful experience of putting out the book, for the friends that we have made, and for the fun that we have had.We have worked hard and learned a great deal. Our memories of the year will long be cherishedâ€"for some were gay, and a few were gruesome. But when our work was nearly completed we realized how the many details of getting out the book were made easier and more pleasant by the splendid cooperation we received from so many people.Frank Lodefink, Ross Taggart and Albert Mulder and the entire staff of Mercury Publishing Company and Arrow Service for their long hours spent in designing, making layouts, artwork, special retouching, mounting photographs, managing production of engravings, composition, printing and binding.Peter S. Ecker and his staff for the portraits, scenic, and queen pictures.Paul A. Nelson and the men at Durand Cover Co. for the design and production ofour fine covers.Theron Parmelee and the gang of the Graduate Manager's Office for their advice andassistance.Photographer Loenard Robbins for the subdivision photographs. The staff of the University Photo Bureau for their cooperation in the processing of ourmany pictures. The Chronicle, and the downtown papers for their publicity and sports pictures. The entire Utonian staff for their untiring efforts and cooperation in the production of the book.We thank these friends who helped us through all our busy days and nights.EditorManager431 |
