The much discussed drama was under the able direction of Joseph F. Catmull. Powerful and vividly portrayed, it is a modern-clothes retelling of the story of the Resurrection, discussed openly and honestly.The author has brought forth such witnesses as Mary Magdalen, Pontius Pilate, Saul of Tarsus, and Simon Peter to testify in a modern court in the trial of a humble gardener, who is accused of hiding the dead body of the crucified Jesus. The modernization of this 2,000-year-old story gives it a definate touch of reality.In the end, this faith versus logic drama leaves the final decision to the jury, which is the audience itself.Excellently cast and brilliantly portrayed, "The Vigil" brought forth an array of both new stars and local favorites. Truly, every player was a star.The modern Susanna completes her testimony while the defense attorney, George Fadel, attempts to strengthen his case in the trial of paganism versus Christianity.Colleen Hutchins plays the role of Mary Mag-dalena â€" heckled by the prosecutor (H.E.D Redford), but secure in her faith.252 |
