Show y)eiaie...Making final preparations for the Seattle tournament are these four debaters. Burton Cassity and Tom Greene seem very impressed with the affirmative case of Jeen Hyer and Betty Ray.Boasting over sixty members, the University debate squad thrived on keen competition and difficult debate questions. Team members won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place honors at Redlands, California, and they highlighted a very successful year by placing 4th in the nation at the Purdue national tournament. Utah was also well represented at Linfield, Oregon; Austin, Texas; and Virginia tournaments. The busy speakers still managed to find time to sponsor an intramural contest and state high school tournament as well as to appear on several radio and civic programs.Having guided debaters through their biggest year, Coach George Adamson and debate manager, Bruce Jenkins, examine a few of the many trophies won by the squad.How not to win an argument is demonstrated by Deane Marshall, Ada White-ley, and Anne Mattison, who know that sound logic and refutation much more successful.are256 |
