To start things off a queen and attendants were elected to reign over the affair. Competition was keen as the various departments of the college tried for the trophies offered for the outstanding skits and open house displays. The skits were the highlight of the evening at the annual oyster stew, and prizes were awarded to the "men" that could grow the best and most unique beards. Shortly after the open house, during which the students were shown through the various engineering labs, St. Pats initiation was held on the front steps of the Union Building to end the week. The Electricals walked away with first place in the skit competition held between the various campus engineering departments. The most popular bit of the double E's skit was the Grecian Urn dance, complete with water. The transit toting Civils took second place with their annual standby, the "Hard Rock-ettes" direct from the concrete lab. Several members of the audience were wondering which of the "girls" had the Tony.174 |
