Show Peinijied jeftest..Disturbing is perhaps the descriptive adjective "The Petrified Forest" first brings to mind. This symbolic melodrama, the analysis of a sick civilization, left the audience in a thoughtful mood. The Sherwood drama, directed by Robert Hyde Wilson, has as its setting a run-down lunch room in the desert. The realistic staging, produced by a hard-working crew, portrayed the subdued mood of the plot."The Forest" tells the story of Alan Squier, a disillusioned poet unable to find anything worth living for, who finally discovers something worth dying for in a lonely gas station in the Arizona desert. Ending on a tragic note, the play still gives reassurance of faith in mankind. Those who saw the performance will remember an inspiring evening."Gabby, it's the only way," pleads Alan (Ned Williams) in suspense-packed climax, while gangster Duke Mantee surveys the situation .The camera catches the mood of suspense as fugatives take over the lunch room.251 |
